UNCC & Liberty University Capture 2024 CDG National Titles

The 2024 College Disc Golf National Championship (CDGNC), held April 3–6 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, brought together over 800 collegiate athletes competing across five courses, including the iconic Winthrop University layout. As part of US Disc Golf’s mission to foster the next generation of disc golf talent, the event showcased thrilling performances and dramatic finishes.

Men’s Division I: UNC Charlotte’s Clutch Victory

UNC Charlotte entered Championship Saturday with a four-stroke lead but faced fierce competition from defending champions Cincinnati and in-state rivals NC State. After a challenging start, UNC Charlotte’s Glenn Fister delivered a pivotal 50-foot eagle putt on hole 18 to force a playoff with Cincinnati. The team secured victory on the third playoff hole, clinching their first national title in dramatic fashion.

Women’s Division I: Liberty University’s Wire-to-Wire Triumph

Liberty University’s duo, Julia Dimartino and Maggie Presley, led the Women’s Division I from start to finish. Despite pressure from Clemson and Emporia State, Liberty maintained composure, ultimately winning by two strokes and securing their first national title in this division.

Singles Champions: Rising Stars Emerge

  • Men’s Division I: Ferris State’s Benjamin Zorn surged from the third card to claim the title, playing a clean final nine and securing a one-stroke victory. 
  • Women’s Division I: University of North Carolina’s Kelly White delivered a bogey-free final nine to edge out NC State’s Genesis Beck by a single stroke.
  • Men’s Division II: Liberty’s Greyson Lifto emerged victorious in a tightly contested field, winning by one stroke. 
  • Men’s Division III: UNC Charlotte’s Will Hewitt delivered a standout performance, shooting 76 points above his rating to secure the title.

Team Division Highlights

  • Men’s Division II: The University of North Carolina’s Team A forced a playoff with a 14-under final round, including an ace, and clinched the title with a birdie on the first playoff hole.
  • Men’s Division III: Liberty University dominated the field, winning by an 11-stroke margin.

The 2024 CDGNC not only crowned national champions but also highlighted the depth of talent in collegiate disc golf.With record participation and memorable performances, the future of the sport looks brighter than ever.
